1. Mould preparation.
A fixed quantity of polymer in grain form is packed into a hollow mould. The mold is usually built from cast aluminium or sheet steel component. The coloration intended for the finished goods is pre compounded into the polymer. The most often used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this type of plastic assembly.

Preheating of the oven follows, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then locked and positioned inside the oven.

2. The heat and fusion step.
Once inside the oven, the mould is spun on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and coats the inside if the mould. The spinning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 revolutions per sixty seconds. The main thing that is crucial at this point is the amount of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the product will lose stability and strength, producing a faulty product. If it is removed from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have melted properly, which generates bubbles in the completed product.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the material has completely spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the component cools, it reduces slightly for ease of removal from the mold. This is yet another step that depends a lot on the right timing, since quick cooling reduces the material too quick, causing bending of the item.

4. The unloading or de-moulding step.
When the material inside te mould has cooled properly, the person taking care of the operation can then extract the finished item from the mould. The procedure is repeated from the start, providing a series of identical products.
