Pre-heating of the oven follows, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then secured and placed inside the oven.

2. The heating and fusion process.
Once placed into the oven, the mold is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mold. The turning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 spins per min. The main thing that is essential at this moment is the amount of time the mould will spend within the oven. If it stays to long, the component will lose stability and durability, generating a faulty product. If it is removed from the oven too early, the polymer will not have flowed correctly, which develops bubbles in the finished item.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the product has sufficiently spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the product cools, it reduces a little for ease of extraction from the mold. This is yet another procedure that depends a lot on the right timing, since rapid cooling shrinks the material too rapidly, causing bending of the product.

4. The removing or de-molding phase.
When the product within te mould has cooled properly, the molder managing the operation can then extract the completed product from the mould. The process is repeated from the start, providing a number of similar items.
