The Rotomoulding Method Components

1. Mold prep work.
A predetermined measure of polymer in grain form is filled into a hollow mold. The mold is usually crafted from cast aluminium or sheet steel component. Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then locked and inserted inside the oven.

2. The heating up and fusion procedure.
Once inside the oven, the mould is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and layers the inside if the mold. The rotation is done slowly and gradually, about 20 revolutions per minute. One thing that is crucial at this moment is the amount of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the component will lose stability and durability, creating a poor item. If it is removed from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have liquefied properly, which produces bubbles in the finalized product.

3. Mould cooling.
When the product has sufficiently spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the component cools, it reduces somewhat for ease of removal from the mold. This is an additional step that depends a lot on the ideal timing, since quick cooling decreases the material too fast, causing bending of the material.

4. The unloading or de-moulding step.
As soon as the product inside te mold has cooled successfully, the person handling the process can then remove the finalized product from the mould. The function is repeated from the start, giving a series of identical product lines.
