1. Mould fitting.
A predetermined measure of polymer in grain form is filled into a hollow mold. The mold is usually made from cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. The coloration desired for the finished goods is pre compounded into the polymer. The most generally used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this design of plastic engineering.

Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then sealed and installed within the oven.

2. The heat and fusion phase.
Once inside the oven, the mold is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and overlays the inside if the mold. The turning is done gradually, about 20 rotations per minute. The main thing that is vital at this point is the period of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the product will lose value and strength, generating a poor product. If it is extracted from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted properly, which develops bubbles in the completed product line.

3. Mold cooling down.
When the product has sufficiently spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the material cools, it reduces slightly for ease of extraction from the mould. This is yet another measure that relies a lot on the correct timing, since quick cooling shrinks the material too quick, causing bending of the item.

4. The unloading or de-moulding step.
When the material inside te mould has cooled successfully, the person taking care of the operation can then remove the completed product from the mould. The function is repeated from the start, giving a series of similar products.
