The Rotomoulding Procedure Components

1. Mold readying.
A predetermined amount of polymer in powder form is filled into a hollow mould. The mould is usually made of cast aluminium or sheet steel material. The color wanted for the end product is pre compounded into the polymer. The most commonly used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this design of plastic manufacturing.

Pre-heating of the oven follows, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then sealed and installed inside the oven.

2. The heat and fusion phase.
Once inside the oven, the mould is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and overlays the inside if the mold. The rotation is done gradually, about 20 spins per sixty seconds. The main thing that is vital at this moment is the amount of time the mould will spend within the oven. If it overstays, the material will lose value and durability, making a faulty item. If it is removed from the oven too early, the polymer will not have liquefied properly, which develops bubbles in the completed product line.

3. Mould cooling.
When the component has completely spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the material cools, it reduces slightly for ease of extraction from the mold. This is another measure that depends a lot on the right timing, since rapid cooling shrinks the material too rapidly, causing warping of the item.

4. The removing or de-molding step.
When the material within te mould has cooled properly, the molder handling the operation can then extract the finished product from the mold. The function is repeated from the start, giving a number of exact items.
