The Rotomolding Method Components

1. Mold fitting.

Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then secured and put within the oven.

2. The heat and fusion process.
Once placed into the oven, the mold is spun on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mould. The turning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 spins per minute. Something that is essential at this moment is the amount of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the material will lose value and durability, producing a poor product. If it is taken out from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have flowed properly, which creates bubbles in the finished product line.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the material has completely spent the enough of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the product cools, it reduces a little for ease of removal from the mold. This is yet another procedure that depends upon a lot on the right timing, since quick cooling decreases the material too quick, causing bending of the item.

4. The removing or de-moulding step.
As soon as the product within te mold has cooled successfully, the molder handling the procedure can then take out the finished item from the mold. The function is repeated from the start, supplying a series of exact items.
