1. Mold fitting.
A fixed measure of polymer in particle form is loaded into a hollow mould. The mold is usually made from cast aluminium or sheet steel component. Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it can be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is warmed to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then locked and positioned into the oven.

2. The heating and fusion process.
Once placed into the oven, the mould is spun on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mould. The rotation is done gradually, about 20 rotations per sixty seconds. The main thing that is critical at this point is the amount of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it stays to long, the material will lose stability and durability, making a faulty item. If it is taken out from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted properly, which generates bubbles in the completed product.

3. Mold cooling.
When the component has completely spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then extracted for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which generates a cool mist. When the product cools, it reduces slightly for ease of extraction from the mold. This is yet another step that depends upon a lot on the ideal timing, since rapid cooling shrinks the material too fast, causing bending of the product.

4. The offloading or de-moulding step.
Once the component within te mould has cooled effectively, the person handling the operation can then extract the finished item from the mold. The process is repeated from the start, providing a series of identical products.
