The Rotomolding Process Components

1. Mold preparation.
A predetermined measure of polymer in grain form is filled into a hollow mold. The mould is usually constructed from cast aluminium or sheet steel substance. The most generally used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this style of plastic assembly.

Pre-heating of the oven starts, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then locked and positioned into the oven.

2. The heat and fusion procedure.
Once inside the oven, the mold is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and layers the inside if the mold. The turning is done slowly and gradually, about 20 spins per min. The main thing that is crucial at this point is the amount of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it overstays, the material will lose value and strength, generating a poor product. If it is taken out from the oven too early, the polymer will not have melted properly, which creates bubbles in the finalized product.

3. Mould cooling down.
When the material has sufficiently spent the correct amount of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This may be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the material cools, it shrinks slightly for ease of extraction from the mold. This is another measure that relies a lot on the right timing, since rapid cooling reduces the material too quick, causing bending of the product.

4. The removing or de-molding phase.
When the component within te mould has cooled effectively, the person managing the process can then extract the finished item from the mold. The process is repeated from the start, supplying a series of similar items.
