The Rotomoulding Procedure Components

1. Mold preparation.

The most commonly used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this format of plastic assembly.

Preheating of the oven follows, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated up to temperatures between 500-700F. The mold with the powdered polymer is then secured and put into the oven.

2. The heating and fusion procedure.
Once inside the oven, the mold is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer liquefies from the heat and coats the inside if the mold. The spinning is done slowly, about 20 spins per sixty seconds. The main thing that is crucial at this moment is the period of time the mold will spend within the oven. If it overstays, the component will lose value and strength, making a weak product. If it is taken out from the oven too early, the polymer will not have liquefied correctly, which generates bubbles in the completed product.

3. Mold cooling.
When the material has completely spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then removed for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which creates a cool mist. When the component cools, it shrinks somewhat for ease of removal from the mold. This is one more step that depends upon a lot on the ideal timing, since quick cooling reduces the material too quick, causing warping of the material.

4. The unloading or de-moulding step.
As soon as the product within te mold has cooled successfully, the person taking care of the operation can then extract the finished item from the mold. The procedure is repeated from the start, providing a number of identical product lines.
