1. Mould prep work.
A fixed measure of polymer in powder form is filled into a hollow mold. The mould is usually composeded of cast aluminium or sheet steel material. The colour desired for the finished item is pre compounded into the polymer. The most often used powder resin is polythene, but polyvinyl chloride and nylon can also be used in this type of plastic production.

Preheating of the oven starts, and it may be done by either conduction, convection or sometimes radiation. It is heated to temperatures between 500-700F. The mould with the powdered polymer is then locked and inserted into the oven.

2. The heat and fusion procedure.
Once placed into the oven, the mold is turned on two axis so the powdered polymer melts from the heat and overlays the inside if the mold. The rotation is done gradually, about 20 rotations per minute. The main thing that is important at this moment is the period of time the mould will spend inside the oven. If it overstays, the component will lose value and strength, creating a faulty item. If it is extracted from the oven prematurely, the polymer will not have liquefied properly, which produces bubbles in the finalized item.

3. Mold cooling.
When the product has sufficiently spent the right amount of time in the oven, it is then taken out for cooling. This can be done by air or water, or sometimes a mixture of both which a cool mist. When the product cools, it reduces a little for ease of removal from the mold. This is an additional procedure that relies a lot on the right timing, since rapid cooling reduces the material too rapidly, causing warping of the product.

4. The un-loading or de-molding step.
As soon as the product within te mould has cooled properly, the person taking care of the procedure can then remove the completed item from the mould. The technique is repeated from the start, making a series of identical products.
